Happy Mother’s Day! For those of you who asked for uninterrupted time to read, I hope you enjoy Weekend Reading from start to finish. I had a few simple wishes for the day. Not to cook or do dinner dishes, a long walk with Henri, maybe a nap, and my husband got me a beauty face mask a few months ago, I have been holding onto that, which includes a meditation. It sounds heavenly and against so much of my ADHD brain that I am excited to give it a go.

We are currently living in a bit of a construction zone because we have a house project underway. There is a lot of extra dust and noise during the week. I plan to take advantage of the quiet.

Margo’s Got Money Problems was not for me. I told my husband there was an episode where it was make-or-break whether I was going to continue, and I turned it off.

Strangers is a book I recently picked up at the local bookstore after seeing everyone read it. I ended up starting the audiobook at the gym, and while it captured my attention (she is a great storyteller), I lost interest and felt her story dragged on.

The one lesson that I did learn was how important sunscreen is. My skin was more sensitive to the sun because of what I was using, so I needed to make sure I was protected. I started using Proactiv at the end of college, and it made a difference; my skin finally cleared up. This could be due to less stress, environmental changes, or it actually worked. We will never know! But I am grateful to finally clear my skin, and I don’t mess around anymore.

My Skin Type and Age

Before we jump into my skincare routine, I will note that everyone has different skin, and there are products for everyone. One product might work well for me, and you may not like it or have a reaction. Take my recommendations with a grain of salt and make the best decisions for you and your skin.

I am in my mid 40’s and have dry skin. Clean beauty and anti-aging are a focus of mine, and I try to make clean choices when I can. Sun protection is essential, and I wear it even on cloudy days and in the winter. I have not had Botox or fillers and do not plan to at this time. For anti-aging, I have done some laser treatments and am open to more in the future.

My Morning Skincare Routine

For a cleanser, I have been using this oil cleanser from Tata Harper that I really enjoy.

Serums are a non-negotiable for me and really help my dry skin. As a splurge, Sisley recently sent me this product that I love.

Since I have received requests for recommendations, here are some I love.

Skin Revive ($95), a little goes a long way, and my skin is glowing right now as I have been trying this one out.

Ursa Major does a great job with their serums; they are clean and affordable. This mountain glow serum ($75) has been a favorite and the first product I tried from the brand.

I alternate a bit with moisturizer in the morning. Tata Harper calming cream is a great one I reach for, and it's better when I feel drier.

Le Prunier Plumscreen is a great last-step moisturizer with SPF. The key ingredient is Zinc without giving you a white cast. This is TSA-friendly and a good one for travel with that added protection when I am out and about in Paris more often than being at home at the computer in Chicago.

Eye cream is something I struggle with. I am constantly trying new ones and have not found my go-to favorite. Open for suggestions. Currently using this MDPerricone one and Dr. Brandt.

For sunscreen, I am an EltaMD girl, thanks to my dermatologist's recommendation. I have one in my bathroom and another by the door for reapplication when I go on long walks with Henri.

My Evening Skincare Routine

Someone, or more than one person, will mention that I should be double cleansing. A milk cleanser and an oil cleanser to get off the SPF and makeup at the end of the day. I just ran out of this milk cleanser from Biologique and need to restock.

For the on-the-go end-of-day or flying, these wipes from Ursa Major come in handy. You can keep them in your travel or gym bag.

I swapped out my Elemis cleanser after some research to switch to a cleaner routine. This cleansing balm from Blue Lagoon is clean, and I have just ordered it to try. REBECCA15 gets you 15% off Blue Lagoon.

Serum or oil is a non-negotiable at night. This is when your skin repairs itself the most. Eight Day serum is a favorite. (a splurge)

Just as I like to clean up my kitchen and turn down the house before bed, it is important to prep your skin before bed.

In the evening, I love this Irene Forte hibiscus lotion. The scent is so good, it feels like a luxury every time I put it on.

I enjoy using the ZIIP Halo in the evening. It does take a little bit of time in the evening, and you absolutely need the gel.

My last step is a lip balm at the end of the night because my lips are always dry. This one from Blue Lagoon is thicker and works well.

Beauty Masks and Sunday Self-Care Rituals

I have a good amount of beauty masks and don’t use them nearly as much as I should. Once a week. I do love a Sunday self-care ritual, and that is a great time to squeeze in a mask.

Sisley Black Rose is a splurge and much cheaper in Paris if you have the chance. This is great for flying, too.

This Algae mask from Blue Lagoon is $95

One of my favorites and a fun color is this one from Le Prunier. I have worn it and almost scared my husband when he walked in, not realizing my face was purple from the mask. The smaller size is $30 and perfect for travel.

I love the eye patches, especially on days I have a shoot. My eyes typically wake up puffy and dark-circled. A good remedy is an ice roller. I also just tried this face tape and eye patches, and when I looked in the mirror, I was wowed.

This week was a wild ride with some work hiccups that might bore you but really stressed me out. More and more, I think I need someone working with me in Chicago as extra support. I am only one person wearing a lot of hats.

There was a lot behind the scenes that you may have missed, or that I forgot to share because life was crazy. I kicked off April by hosting Passover. One of the first times hosting this holiday with family and friends. I pulled out my grandma’s linens, and her presence continued to make her way throughout the month in different ways.

Most Worn Favorites in April

One of my most-worn sweatshirts was this one! My sister-in-law recommended the brand, and they reached out to gift me something. I said yes. Now, I am washing and wearing this one sweatshirt every week. I have the Medium. It is a little cropped and I love it.

This Varley coat has been worn almost daily aside from Paris. It is reversible and adds a fun pop of color on the grey days.

Goals Update for April

I have been showing up at the gym more and being more consistent. Wednesdays and one weekend day are for lifting weights, and three other days are for Pilates. I love the Pilates days more, but I know how important weights are for my body, especially as I age. Choosing specific days to show up at the gym and book Pilates classes has helped me be more consistent. I am stronger and lifting heavier weights more often with this routine.

There is a new hire at EDP. I hired a Pinterest manager! She has been with me for just a month, and I can’t wait to see Pinterest traffic grow. I could only do so much as one person wearing many hats, and I am happy to have an expert in the field take this off my plate.

Spring Bed Duvet Swap

I swapped our green linen bedding for an all-white duvet from Boll and Branch, and I'm so happy I did. We recently upgraded our bedroom with a Helix mattress and a new bed, and couldn’t be happier.

For the Sunny Days

I did sneak in wearing a t-shirt and jeans a few days in April. Splendid makes a great t-shirt if I am not in one of my favorite Paris t-shirts. Size up one size. I am usually an S in Splendid and took an M.

Splendid also makes UPF + 50 clothing for summer, and I will plug them and this idea any day of the week. I am a big proponent of sun protection and have the palest legs ever. Which often gets made fun of. This is because they rarely see the sun, and I am totally ok with it. Can you imagine napping in the summer under an umbrella, wearing these cozy pants? I cannot wait to wear them on repeat. Plus, they are SO soft. Also, come in a matching t-shirt.

Birthday Month

April is my birthday month, and I made sure to celebrate all month long. First in Chicago with a Cubs game and dinner out.

For my husband’s birthday and mine, I baked madeleines to have with our coffee in the morning. A sweet treat to kick off the weekend.

Then off to Paris for another special lunch at Shabour. I mentioned my grandma pops up again. The glasses we drank champagne out of were almost an identical match to the ones I had stashed away next to the linens. When I returned home, I opened the box and cried happy tears. I can’t wait to use these and have them out in our kitchen often.

Favorite Skincare in April

My job allows me to test a lot of skincare products, but I also generally love researching and learning about new ones. It has been a passion since I was a kid! More skincare than makeup, since I typically go much lighter with makeup. I did invest in a lot of Sisley makeup in Paris to up my game now that I am a year older.

I have been loving this Irene Forté cream at night, and it has me excited to do my lengthy skincare routine. The smell is so good!

Best Sellers for April

These tortoise sandals from Tuckernuck. Size up .5 size. So fun and different from anything I have seen.

The New Balance sneakers were my Paris hero. I walked 22,000 steps in these and forgot I was wearing shoes. My feet never ached once. I looked down to remind myself what I was wearing since I thought I walked out in my slippers.

This linen blazer from J.Crew. It comes in a variety of colors. I bought it in white with no regrets.

The Soleil pants from J.Crew, which could easily be paired with the linen blazer, were a favorite. They were even on sale for $75 for a few days in April. So many of you snatched them up!

My favorite flats are also yours! I have owned these for years, and they have held up well. They are a classic I reach for year after year. Perfect with a little black dress or jeans.

April weather can be a mix of sun and rain. I hit the weather jackpot and had beautiful weather throughout my trip to Paris. The weather was a little chilly on some days, and I am so happy I packed a trench. I did see a lot of leather jackets, which had me wishing I had brought one too. More on that in a future post, with what trends I saw in Paris this April.

My Travel Uniform

This is one of the easy uniforms I love recreating because travel days get hectic. I typically shower and do a more intense skincare routine for the dry air. Thicker creams and masks. I arrive at the airport with a shiny face, and it doesn’t last long. My travel uniform is something I have dedicated a whole post to. You can read it here. A formula makes life so much easier!

These pants from AYR are my favorite for long-haul flights. They have pockets and are super comfortable. I wear a size M. The pants wash and wear well. I have worn them on just about every flight in the past year. When I don’t, I instantly regret it.

A comfortable sweater is key. I alternate a bit and ended up wearing this one from Frank and Eileen.

My room was not ready when I arrived, but I was able to freshen up in the bathroom before heading to lunch. I keep my toothbrush, any clothes I want to change into, and deodorant right at the top for easy access.

Out and About Bag Details

I mainly used this Cuyana bag for days when I was out and about. It holds so much and has a top zip tote to keep my belongings secure. I switched hotels and needed to keep my passport with me for a bit. Normally, it stays at the hotel.

Also, I love this red leather pouch from Cuyana that holds a bunch of smaller things like tissue, hand cream, pain reliever, and lip balm, making it easy to find.

Sunglasses and Readers from Warby Parker

I packed these Warby Parker sunglasses to make sure my eyes were protected. You can often see me wearing them. I also have these readers, a new addition that I wear for computer work.

Striped Shirt and Jeans For Paris

I took myself out to dinner the first night. An easy and close French bistro, I had been to before and knew exactly what to expect.

Sézane Sweater and Jeans

I was hopeful for warmer weather and packed a lot of sleeveless or short-sleeved sweaters. The first day was a little cooler than I had hoped, and I remembered I had packed this grey sweater, which was definitely one of the trip's heroes.

Another hero of the trip was these sneakers, which I walked 22,000 steps a day in and never thought twice about. For evenings out, I changed into my Margaux flats.

Little Black Dress for Paris in the Spring

I am giving you a little sneak preview of my shoot with Madga for Katie Donnelly Photography. This was a birthday shoot that I wanted to do at one of my favorite spots, Café Bonaparte. Wearing a ME+EM dress that was just perfectly cut, and these Margaux black flats.

I packed this Frame blue sweater for warmer days and it was perfect for the trip. These short sleeve sweaters are great for jeans or layering under a light jacket or blazer.

For evenings out, I packed this Polène bag that I have owned for years. The classic black is ideal for Paris and goes with just about everything.

After the shoot, I moved hotels and changed into jeans and a sleeveless blouse. This was the warmest day of the trip, and I regret bringing my jacket for the walk. My husband took an earlier train from London and met me back at the hotel for dinner and drinks.

For Out and About on Saturday in Paris

I packed and wore this blouse from ME+EM. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of putting mineral sunscreen on my chest during the warm day and it turned the white blouse yellow with spots. It was one of my favorites. I have not given up getting it out. If you have tips, I am all ears!

Tempted to buy it in the pale pink color that I just noticed was available.

Luxembourg Gardens Morning

My husband and I strolled through Luxembourg Gardens. I cannot get enough of the green chairs with the slight slant. They immediately put me into a state of calm and my heart rate slows down. It is my magic calming spot in Paris. Now if we could just get these for home!

Pop of Red Signature Color for The Last Day in Paris

For a full day of errands, lunch, shopping, and more. Paris on a Sunday is my favorite. This blouse is the same cheesecloth material as the white one but in my favorite pop of red. I had a meeting and fit my flats in my bag and walked a good amount in my sneakers and made a quick swap!

I have many thoughts on the idea of Mother’s Day.

There should 100% be more than one day a year to celebrate all types of moms. Maybe once a quarter?

A handwritten card goes a long way and something she will treasure. I know, I always do.

Mother’s Day is for mom, the caretakers, step-moms, grandparents, single moms, the single dad, aunties and dog/cat moms. If I am leaving someone out, please remind me as brain fog sets in.

This holiday is hard for those who have lost their mothers at any age, lost children, or don’t have a good relationship with their mothers. Give yourself and others grace on this holiday.

The Best Gift of All is Time

My love language is special time. When my sister and I were younger, our mom would make time for just one-on-one. We had nights out or an early breakfast before school. It was a fun way to bond and feel extra special.

The best gift you can give a mother is also the most underrated, and it costs nothing. Time.

Think about what that actually looks like: taking something completely off her plate. Dinner, for example, is handled from start to finish, whether that means cooking or ordering, and cleaning up afterward. No delegating, no asking what she wants. Just done. Take the kids for a few hours, so she has the house to herself. Tackle the mental load items she never gets a break from, such as grocery shopping, running errands, and scheduling.

Beyond that, give her the gift of uninterrupted time. Time for self-care and the small rituals she never quite gets to: a favorite beauty mask, a long walk with the dog, time in the garden, or an afternoon with a book she has been wanting to read. A weekend nap, a long phone call with a friend, an afternoon out with the people she loves, away from screens and schedules.

I Love A Good Pajama Set

Along with the gift of rest, I love a good pajama set. On Mother’s Day, aside from dinner being covered from start to finish, I would love a good Sunday nap with Henri and a cup of coffee snuggled in bed.

Gift a Photograph

I always love Framebridge for framing photos in our home and gifts. (see photos above also framed by Framebridge) Last year, I framed a recipe of my mother in law for my husband. We used the Mercer slim and they were able to keep it open on the back with the glass protecting the recipe. It was a sweet way to bring her into her kitchen with her handwriting and one of my husband’s favorite recipes of hers. This is a creative way if you don’t want to frame a photo.

My friend Tam surprised me one year and framed a photo that I text her from a trip. It sits in our tv room and makes me smile every time I see it. The perfect gift. The photo would have sat on my phone unprinted. She brought it to life! This silver frame is beautiful for small prints and black and whites. It would be perfect for a wedding photo or baby print.

I am still waiting to get Henri’s paw print framed. His photo sits on my desk a gift from my husband when he was still a puppy.

For the mom who has everything, if you want to splurge, I love Vintner’s Daughter cleanser, serum, and essence. From my own personal experience for maximium results, you need all three.

Yulia was over for a shoot, and it was the first time in months we'd had warm enough weather to go outside!

Our farmers' market is back on the weekends, and we stopped by to pick up some pastries, bread, and honey. My allergies are out of control, and I am hoping the honey helps.

As I mentioned, the weather turned while we were away, and the trees finally have buds, and my garden is starting to show signs of life. I ordered this black fence to put up against our tulips to keep Henri out. My husband has volunteered to install it. I will report back.

While on Wayfair, I noticed our bistro set is on sale for under $100. This was such a good find. We love putting this out in the spring to sit with our neighbors during the good weather.

I had my eye on a Polene bag in Paris and convinced myself to walk out of the store. Hint: the Bon Marche location near closing time has no line. My husband kept saying buy the bag, but I left, telling myself I need to use the ones I have at home more often to justify a new one. I did pull this one and this one out of my closet and can’t wait to add them to my rotation. This is the bag I saw most often in the evening out and about with Parisian women.

Beauty Favorites This Week:

There are so many beauty favorites. I am very lucky to be able to try and test many different products for work. While in Paris, I purchased a lot of Sisley Paris products and updated my makeup. Including this concealer. A little goes a long way. It was important to invest in my skin, not just with my skincare but also with what I put on my face for makeup. I love Sisley, and although it is expensive, I find it is worth it. Stay tuned for more of what I bought while in Paris.

It has been a whirlwind in the best way. I am back from Paris after a lovely sunshine-filled week. My luck with Paris weather has never been good. If I can recall, January was all rain. This time around, I hit the weather jackpot and soaked up the sun every single day. Of course, sunscreen and sunglasses are a must regardless of the sun or season.

I typically travel to Paris in April, but this year it didn’t seem to work with my schedule. My husband texted me with the idea and the dates we could squeeze it in. Once the idea was planted, I got to work. Mid-April kicks off the busy season, and the hotels are booked. The hard part was finding a place to stay after booking the plane ticket.

Where I Stayed in Paris

The hotels were a splurge this trip since we were celebrating our birthdays, and we prefer experiences over gifts. Pavillon Faubourg Saint Germain is my husband’s favorite. They were fully booked during the week but had availability over the weekend. My husband was traveling internationally for work and didn’t have plans to meet me until Friday, so this worked in his favor.

I spent two nights at Villa Saint Germain des Prés, just a five-minute walk away. This is the sister hotel of Hôtel d’Abusson and Villa des Prés. Villa des Prés is a hotel I stayed at a few years ago when it first opened, and it is centrally located near Rue de Buci. Abusson is under renovation and should be open later this year. I love the location and would visit Café Laurent for jazz. It is on my list to discover once it reopens.

Part of my job is recommending and discovering hotels. On this trip, I discovered two new hotels that are on my short list to try for my next visit.

Plans for Paris in the Spring

Heading into my trip, I had a short list of what I wanted to do in Paris. A picnic either on the Seine or in a park. Visit a market and pick up peonies and strawberries. This is the start of strawberry season, and I can confirm, there is nothing like a strawberry in France. The flavors jump off your taste buds. I have been known to eat an entire container of strawberries in one sitting with no regret.

I have had Hôtel de la Marine on my list for years, and I still have not made it here. This was on my short list of spots to visit in Paris.

What I Crossed Off My List and What I Didn’t

Paris was filled with surprises. While I had a lot on my agenda. It didn’t all happen. That is the beauty of Paris and being open to the unexpected.

On my last night in Paris, as my husband walked back to our hotel, I looked up at the sky and saw the sliver of the new moon. In the darkness of the sky, I saw the light of the Eiffel Tower. It hit me that I didn’t see the Eiffel Tower at night once, and that meant not one evening sparkle.

Paris is small; it is not unusual to run into friends and blog readers while out and about. At the same time, the city is so large that you can spend an entire day in one part of the city and never cross the Seine or leave a neighborhood. It was easy to walk 20,000 steps a day without even realizing it. Thanks to these shoes, my feet never complained once.

A little unexpected, but I have had Brasserie Lipp on my list for years. It is a classic bistro that has been around for over 100 years. I needed to make up my own mind if it was worth the visit. On our last night, we chose a restaurant close to the hotel. We had an early morning flight and a long day. Brasserie Lipp got us in on the enclosed terrace.

Perfect for people watching across the street at Café de Flore and the tables around us. I can’t say it was the best meal I have had in Paris, but it was an experience I finally crossed off my list. It was fun to do with my husband and make new memories together.

A Few Paris Highlights

I did end up meeting my friend Katie’s new baby, and that was one of the main goals. She is adorable, and I can’t wait to watch her grow up.

My husband and I had the most amazing meal at Shabour for lunch.

The weather. One of the best weeks of weather I have ever had in Paris. It changes the mood completely. I love Paris in the rain, don’t get me wrong. But to enjoy Paris with a soft, glowy light was a gift.

I was able to join friends for a kickoff event for a Paris Retreat.

Birthday celebrations continued in Paris. Sézane sent me the most beautiful bouquet, and I still haven’t been able to get over it. I made sure to tell the hotel to bring it downstairs after I left so they could enjoy it, too.

I discovered a new bakery by chance and can’t wait to add it to The Paris Guide and share it with you!

Bonjour from Paris! It is good to be back, even for only a few days. The sun and warmth have helped ease jet lag. I hit the ground running, trying to soak up every bit of the city. One thing on my side has been the longer days. Early mornings and late nights. A few meals and pastry discoveries have been incredible, and I can’t wait to share more details once I am home.

Oh, these clips have always been on my radar. I want to pick up this one for the summer to throw my hair up.

My bag on the go in Paris is always packed to the max. My friend Shana made a joke and asked, what is inside Rebecca’s bag. Cuyana makes the black bag, and since I switched hotels (on purpose), my passport and sunglasses are with me, along with one of Cuyana’s smaller bags for lip gloss and sunscreen.

The weather was a wild roller coaster in Chicago this week. We had one day of warm weather, and the rest of the days I was back to my sweaters.

I spent the weekend kicking off birthday festivities. My husband and I are two days apart. We spent the afternoon at the Cubs game, which went into 11 innings. Sadly, the Cubs lost in the end. It was still a lot of fun! We will continue the celebrations tonight with a dinner out.

The only thing I didn’t love was the Paris footage. It was half filmed in Paris, and the other looked like NYC. If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t.

This week, I hosted Passover for the first time with friends and family. I remembered I had my grandma’s linens in a drawer and pulled them out for the occasion. Our steamer was lost in the shuffle, but no one mentioned the wrinkles. Instead, the food made from scratch, laughter, and love that filled the room were the most important. Finding a way to continue to honor my grandma and setting the table brought me so much joy.

What to do in Paris in the Spring

March was a very full month! Between travel, family, and work, it was nonstop until the very end.

In early March, I visited my hometown of Cincinnati for a book event for Paris Every Day and got to see my family. Celebrated my sister’s birthday early, and spent time with my niece and nephew.

They are at such fun ages! I want to bottle them up. Plus, Henri got to come along for the ride because I drove.

Life Updates:

After getting my eyes checked, I ended up with progressives. These are the frames I settled on from Warby Parker. I am still adjusting to them and plan on going back to pick up a pair of readers, too.

Work Projects:

I am still in the early stages of hiring. Taxes were a top priority, and I needed to get over that hurdle. Now I can start to think about what I need and want to add to my team. Thanks to my design team, I already have the templates for the 2027 calendars, and there is a VERY fun update I have been very excited to share with you. You are going to love it. I also planned and designed the totes for 2027.

House Projects

We kicked off the month hanging some art; our painter was next door, and luckily, the timing worked out perfectly. I added this rug to the front entry, and I am loving it.

Flats and Suede Bag

The garden is cleaned up, and we are ready to start planting. This is the year I may find my green thumb. It is still cold in Chicago, so there aren’t many plants available at the garden center, hopefully soon. We brought our table and chairs back outside and enjoyed some time with our next-door neighbors.

Our magnolia tree is just starting to show its first buds and blossoms.

Fingers crossed, the bathroom renovation projects will happen this spring. I need to start the tile shopping process.

Skincare I am Loving:

Tata Harper is back on my radar, and I am loving everything. This oil cleanser, serum, and moisturizer.

I also love Eighth Day serum. My skin is still so dry from winter.

Transitioning to Spring

Gaining a green thumb is on my spring bucket list. We cleared out our garden, clipped our hydrangeas, and pulled out our table and chairs. Spring is coming to Chicago soon, and we will be ready. I love watching the neighborhood wake up after winter hibernation. The shift in weather has allowed us to see some of our neighbors and dogs this week.

I launched my Spring Paris Itineraries. This includes a Left Bank and a Right Bank PDF, as well as a rainy-day itinerary.

Poppy red is a color I am gravitating towards right now. I painted my nails a similar color, and this bag is in my cart.

Strawberries are in season. This passover cake is a favorite to make each year. I will be making this early in the week for Wednesday.

I do need to move some of my sweaters out of my closet to make room for a few lighter pieces. This is always a struggle in Chicago as we slowly shed our jackets. I typically wear long-sleeve shirts and jeans as my uniform.

This red top and matching pants. The pants are a home run. I always have trouble with Sézane bottoms, and sizing up was the key.

When I travel, there is always something I call out for, to be a hero. Something I wore on repeat or remembered to pack that just made the trip so much better. This white sweater was a last-minute addition to my wardrobe. I was able to throw it over my shoulders and wear it with sweats and jeans. On the last night, I put it on over this dress and made it look like a skirt-and-dress combo. The sweater runs a bit oversized, and a small is perfect on me.

We traveled to Colorado this week, and in the mornings, it was a mix of this jacket from Varley and these sunglasses.

As an introvert, I actually love winter. The quiet hibernation and the slow pace of life. It feels like I have permission to retreat, especially with the colder days and shorter nights.

Some seasons are for resting and building roots, while others are for blooming. I love that.

After a cold and snowy winter, I am ready for spring. Our neighborhood is starting to come alive as it does every spring. We are starting to see neighbors linger on their dog walks and parents and kids out and about instead of rushing inside to get warm. The trees are starting to bud, and my garden has signs of green again.

I have been marinating on the idea of a spring bucket list. While January felt terribly long, the last couple of months have flown by. Am I the only one who feels this way? I can’t believe we are already in mid-March. There is still so much I want to do with work and life this year.

Red Bag/Red Shoes/Dress

Spring Bucket List Chicago

• Walk with Henri downtown to meet my husband for drinks or an early dinner after work.

• Explore a new neighborhood.

• Work on my risotto skills. This has been a new favorite for dinner. We have been making it in our Staub and using homemade chicken stock.

• Grow my green thumb. Maybe this will be the year I get my hands dirty and garden. I loved watering the garden with Henri, but my husband is mostly the one who gets his hands dirty each spring/summer.

• Add to our favorite herbs. I love buying cilantro and parsley weekly. Now that the Farmers Market opens, I can’t wait to buy other herbs to use in my cooking.

• Change out our bedding from the green to a white duvet for spring/summer.

• Finally score a seat at Crying Tiger. This is one of the hardest reservations in Chicago. It is so good!

Work Bucket List

• Hire a support employee. I am in the beginning stages of adding a team member. This may turn into multiple part-time positions with different strengths. I am very excited about this and just hired a Pinterest manager.

• Publish my Spring Paris 3 Day Weekend Itineraries. These should be complete and ready to launch on the first day of spring. If you purchased this in the last month, I will send the update via email. Summer will be up next now that the template is in place.

• Update and Relaunch The Paris Guide 2026. I worked hard with my design team to do an update and organize everything by arrondissement. It is a big undertaking, and it will be worth it. The printed guide will also launch! These sold out at the end of 2025.

• Work on my work systems to make everything flow better. This is one of my goals for 2026.

France Bucket List

I am still trying to sort out the timing of my next trip to Paris for spring.

• Try out a luxury property outside of Paris

• Explore a new town/city as a day trip outside of Paris

• Experience the poppies in Luxembourg Gardens. I photographed them years ago, and I just missed them last spring.

  

Henri’s Spring Bucket List

Henri and I are perfectly in sync. I had dogs growing up, but they were family dogs. Henri is mine. He has truly taught me so much, but most of all, how to be a mom. I make mistakes as I learn. Henri loves a good routine as much as I do. Our love and bond grow stronger each day. Every time I look at him, I wish I could freeze time because I know he won’t be with me forever.

• Visit the beach. We don’t live too far from the beach, yet I haven’t really taken Henri to the beach. We have to arrive early, and I know he will be a mess when he returns. But that really isn’t for me; it is for him. I need to let go of that and just let him experience the pure joy of doing what he loves.

• Visit a new coffee shop that is dog-friendly in the neighborhood.

• Farmers Market mornings. We love these and can’t wait for our local market to return. I ordered this raincoat for Henri for our rainy-day morning walks in spring.

• Finally, bring out the swimming pool I bought him two summers ago. I fear we will go from spring weather straight into summer quickly. Henri also has a good number of tennis balls. I need to have him and his friends over.

• Agility course. Perfect for rainy days. We have heard of a good one in Chicago. I know Henri would love to try this.

In my 2026 goals post, I mentioned wanting to hire someone for the EDP team. I hired someone for Pinterest, and I am very excited about this! Once we get the ball rolling and see some growth, I am happy to share her information. I am still outlining everything I need to add for my team and will start making additional hires. What I Am Eyeing and Buying this Week

Iris and Romeo launched new shades of their SPF 30 lip balm. Here I am wearing Burgundy. I love it! You will want to add this to your summer bag for lip protection. I also love their weekend skin for SPF and a little extra glow. You can use it as a primer under foundation or on its own.

I did a quick Target run this week and picked up these wire baskets to help with organization. My friend Brooke mentioned I needed another step ladder. We don’t have much storage, but we do have high ceilings. My IKEA cabinets are tall and require an extra step to reach the top shelf.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that Staub sent me this cast-iron pan, which I have been using for just about everything. It actually makes the best eggs. I have also been using the lid from our Staub Dutch oven, which fits perfectly for meats.

The wood spatula you are eying is from Earlywood, which was sent from a clothing brand. I loved them so much that I purchased two more.

My Alex Mill tote arrived this week, and I have to say, it is even better in person. *gifted by the brand.

Clothing I Bought in Paris

Majestic Filatures t-shirts. To my luck, I finally hit the sweet spot for Paris sales in January. I bought a t-shirt from Bon Marché last year that was way more than I intended to spend. Surprisingly, it is one of my favorite t-shirts, and I wear it all the time. I mentioned the brand to my friend Katie and looked up the store locations in Paris. It just so happened that there was a store just a few doors down from where I was staying.

The t-shirts I bought were half off. Selection was limited due to the sale, but I picked up a few, and they were very reasonably priced.

Rue de Verneuil Bag

Rue de Verneuil was on my list for a while, and I have been eyeing their bags. I was surprised their store in Palais Royal was tiny! It was the size of a coffee shop with no seating. Just a few bags on shelves, and a limited assortment was in the drawers.

Again, I was able to take advantage of the sales and got this bag half off. If I end up using the bag a lot, I want to go back and get another one. You can buy the bags here if you can’t make it to Paris.

Sisley Paris

I have been a huge fan of Sisley for years and love their products. There was a Sisley store across from where I had my hair blown out. I popped in and grabbed a new mascara and a lipstick for the event. It was my little pop of red for the day.

Coffee Beans from Paris

I stumbled upon a roaster while walking in Paris on my last day and picked up additional beans. The store was filled with locals, and they roasted the beans on site.

I have a Breville coffee maker at home for espresso. In France, the same machine is the brand Sage. Just for reference, when you are asking for beans. You can give flavor notes and preferences as you buy beans. My friend Sonja brought me a gift of beans when I mentioned I collect them as souvenirs.

I bought this while out and about in the 9th arrondissement.

French Pharmacie Finds

My Pilates instructor in Chicago requested a Rose product from me, and I popped into a pharmacie to grab it. To my surprise, there were two blue bottles, and I couldn’t remember which one she needed. While I waited for a text, I browsed the aisles of a new to me Pharmacie. They can be hit or miss. I am not a fan of City Pharma. I would much rather pay a little more to not be crammed in with people. City Pharma is written up and mentioned often by bloggers, Instagram, and TikTok. I am thrilled for them, but it isn’t for me.

I stumbled into a pharmacie on Rue Dauphine in the evening. It turned out to be a great discovery. I spoke with someone who worked there and took the time to walk me through some questions and the best-selling products. I learned a lot!

Since I was post-Moxie/BBL and was limited in what I could use on my face, I didn’t pick up as much as I typically do. I love a good French pharmacie and typically buy a good amount to try. The pharmacist did tell me that the La Roche Posay B5+ is a different formulation in France than in the US. I immediately ditched mine and bought the French version.

SkinCeuticals is owned by Loréal and is French. I use the Ptiox. This is what he said the best sellers are. I did not buy anything during my quick visit and assumed I would be back, but life got busy. CE Ferulic and Ptiox.

The best thing I bought, honestly, was this Melatonin. I had been struggling with jet lag and couldn’t sleep. The pharmacist recommended this, which dissolves and works more quickly than a pill. My husband and I have fought over the citrus-flavored tablets, and there is currently one left. If you are in Paris, I would grab this. (ok two, one for me, and one for you)

Magnesium B6 is what I take regularly at night, and I picked up some while in Paris.

La Bonne Brosse Brush

I have been served tons of ads and seen a lot of buzz about La Bonne Brosse. While in Paris, I made a point to stop by the store to do a little research. I was short on time, but did end up picking up the number #1. Each has a different purpose and is designed for a specific hair type. I had taken the quiz online, and when I told the sales associates my results, they convinced me I needed something else.

Now that I have used the #1 for a while and talked to my hairstylist, we agree I should have bought #3. Next time! They did warn me that the brush cannot get wet, so you need to use it only on dry hair.

How I Celebrated My Book Launch Event in Paris

After my Sézane event, I treated myself to a nice lunch and shopped for a few things on my list. I had my eye on Sabre for a while and popped into the store on the Left Bank to pick up some spoons and knives. Now that I am home, I want to buy more! You can mix and match colors or select one main color.

Sadly, the two knives were in my carry-on bag. ( I totally forgot about them!) And they were taken by TSA. But my red chopsticks were a pass home.

I have had my eye on a Cire Trudon candle since I moved to Paris in 2013. Specifically, this scent smells like mint and is so refreshing. I stopped in at Cire Trudon and picked up my candle. As I was checking out, the salesperson asked if I wanted it monogrammed. The letters were limited, but I was able to fit Paris Every Day. The perfect way to celebrate the book!

Allow extra time if you plan to pick up a candle; the salesperson was as slow as Mr. Bean in Love Actually!

What I Bought For Henri

I found two adorable dog stores in Paris. Merci Murphy in the 9th arrondissement. I got Henri a croissant.

The other store is Barkers and Brothers, a coffee shop, dog wash, and pet accessory store. It was so cute, and everyone was extremely friendly. There were dogs that were regulars and even helped me decide on a lead for Henri.

The lead I bought is custom-made for the shop by a mother and daughter outside of Nantes.

Chocolate in Paris

I have a sweet tooth and always pick up chocolates in Paris. Plaq is a favorite along with Debauve & Gallais.

The Bag That Got Away

I have traditionally bought myself a gift for the year in Paris. This is a little bonus to myself for meeting my business goals. My closet does not contain many designer brands. There are other bloggers who are way more versed in designer shopping. I own a Hermès scarf that was a gift and a few small YSL pieces. For whatever reason, I was drawn to a larger YSL bag lately because the small clutch I have doesn’t hold much.

I stalled and didn’t buy the bag. Now that I have compared prices, more than double. I need to go back and get the bag!

For reference, I bought the clutch for around 450 euros, and it is already up 100 euros, and the euro is up. In the US, it is now $800 + tax. The bag I wanted is more than double the price in the US. It is an investment if you have the funds. When you buy at the airport, it is duty-free and already discounted.

Duty Free Shopping at CDG

If you arrive early enough, there is great duty-free shopping at CDG. This includes food (macarons, champagne, and tea) as well as great beauty products. In case you missed a Pharmacie stop or want to grab something else. There is everything from Diptyque (candles are around 50 euros vs. $88 + tax), Caudalie, and Sisley Paris. I typically grab something from Sisley on the way out of town.

Pro tip: I had this chat with my cousin over the weekend. She bought over 150 euros of Caudalie in-store that was available for a VAT tax refund. If she didn’t want to stand in line at the airport, she could have bought it there with the discount already applied. It is helpful to have expert guidance when buying skincare, and that is an added value of shopping at Caudalie. For a quick beauty pickup, Duty Free is an excellent option.

Weekend Reading is up on the blog! How to eat like the French, the unique Fashion week invitations given by Dior, and a Victorian row home in Sydney.

I had a little extra time on Friday waiting for my family to arrive, so I was able to schedule the links ahead of schedule and be present with them on Saturday.

What I Was Up to This Weekend

It has been a great weekend in my hometown of Cincinnati. Henri and I drove on Thursday.

On Friday, I met my cousin, whom I haven’t seen in years. She had me over for coffee and croissants, and I was able to see her beautiful home. I keep my family very private, but so much of me wishes I could share every corner of her French-inspired home down to the yellow paint color on the walls.

On Friday afternoon, I had the opportunity to speak to my high school French teacher’s classroom. It has been over 25 years since I last saw her. Way before my first trip to Paris, she taught me how to navigate the metro, Paris culture, art history, and, of course, French. I wanted the chance to help spark something in her current students and inspire them for their next chapter.

Saturday, I met up with Alyssa, who was visiting for the book event at Joseph Beth. She joined my family for breakfast and met the crazy crew she had been hearing about for the past four years. I signed books at Joseph Beth in Hyde Park. This was the bookstore I grew up going to with my dad, and I was thrilled to know Paris Every Day was being carried here.

My dad would always buy my sister and me books, and this time around, I was thrilled to let my niece and nephew select whatever books caught their eye. They are avid readers. I also got a little direction and purchased some books for my collection too. This is what we bought.

What I Wore This Weekend

This weekend in Cincinnati, we had some wild weather. On Friday, it was 80 degrees. I wore this blouse for my signature pop of color, and this sweater when it was rainy. These jeans from Paige are a new favorite. REBECCA15 gets you 15% off.

I am back in Chicago this week and ready to put my head down and get back to work. There is a lot on my agenda to get done, and I am looking forward to being back home and back into my routine again.

What Caught My Eye This Week

This Reformation dress. I wear a size 6 in this brand.

I just restocked more Blueland cleaning tablets for our dishwasher (no plastic) and our washing machine. For a long time, I used Seventh Generation dishwasher tabs, and the plastic would get stuck and not release. After research, I found Blueland, and we have been happy so far! These are available for purchase at Target.

For the in-between weather, I love these long-sleeve tees.

The Spring List at Alex Mill. I am loving this sweater and their flats (I know I already have too many). My hand-painted tote should be arriving SOON!

Family Summer Vacation to Greece

A strange request from a travel blogger. Paris is my niche, and this summer, my family is off to Greece. We have a large group for a special celebration. I would love any special tips or direction. My brother-in-law and I are starting to plan the trip and are specifically looking for a tour guide for Athens. What I Did This Week:

I have been busy updating The Paris Spring Itinerary. There will be a Right Bank and Left Bank version. Stay tuned later this week.

My friend Brooke was over to help organize my space. I needed to declutter, and things were getting a little out of control. One of my goals is to declutter and donate more often.

(The art piece will probably not be the final one, but it is a placeholder for now.)

Together, we made a game plan for the space and decluttered together.

Then, I left her to work her magic and organize. Each client is tailored differently; you can hire her and develop your own organizational plan!

I have two IKEA closets: one for winter clothes and the other for spring/summer clothes. There was a lot of purging and organization. Brooke brought over a few items from The Container Store to help organize.

These shoe bins are genius and help keep all my sandals organized! So many of you asked for the link for these on Instagram.

We also organized the cabinet in the front entry. I am donating our old, larger dresser to a friend, and we emptied it. The top drawer in the new dresser now has these tiny clear containers, and everything has a place, including my keys. Sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, gloves, and more. Once we transition into warmer months, the items will shift.

Brooke says decluttering and organizing include a mental component. It felt like therapy, letting go of clothes and things we didn’t need. Our home feels less cluttered, and my mind feels lighter. Once I started letting go, it was a domino effect. She could have stayed all week! I kept thinking of other areas I needed help with.

I finally let go of a lot of expired or unloved beauty products, which cleared off our tiny bathroom vanity. All of my favorites are now in my medicine cabinet for easy access.

Currently Reading:

Skylark by Paula McLain. I am reading a little each night before bed. There are two stories at different time periods. I thought I would love one story over the other, but now I am conflicted and am enjoying them both. If you have read the book, or are reading it, do you have a favorite character?

What I Watched this Weekend:

My husband and I watched Green Book, and I enjoyed it. The message was beautiful, the ending was sweet, and there were definitely tears.

We also started The Hunting Game on Netflix. Each episode is about catching a serial killer, and I will not lie, I covered my eyes multiple times.
