What’s Your Paris Ritual?
During our latest chat, we both brought up the idea of Paris rituals. It could be a cup of coffee on the terrace at a favorite Parisian café, a walk down your favorite street, or the first bite of a warm croissant from the boulangerie next to your Airbnb.
If you haven’t made it to Paris and you are a huge Francophile at heart, what Parisian ritual do you do at home?

My favorite Paris ritual is also a sad personal story, and I hope I don’t bring the mood down by sharing it. In early 2024, my husband and I decided to go to Paris for our 10th anniversary (in December 2024). I started following the Everyday Parisian site and emails at that time, and we had a tradition of having coffee and croissants on Sunday mornings while I filled him in on highlights from the newsletter and the Links I Love. We had a great time planning during those mornings, and our trip was wonderfully magical. In fact, while we were there, I first read the exciting news about the book deal.
Unfortunately, my husband was killed in a highway accident this past October, and I am heartbroken. But I cherish the memories and the photos from that trip, and i am so grateful we were able to have that experience. I would love to go back to Paris and experience it during warm weather months, but I worry that I will never be able to do it without being haunted by memories. Maybe in a few years. But until then, I still do coffee on Sunday mornings while reading the newsletter, and even occasionally remember to pick up a croissant to enjoy with it.
One of my favorite things to do in Paris is to stroll around the familiar streets in the 6th and take a coffee to Jardin du Luxembourg and just enjoy the beauty all around me. Listening to passers by speaking French is like music to my ears and happiness in my heart.
