My Book Paris Every Day
About Me
For the last 15 years, I have been photographing the city of Paris. I lost my job in 2008 and I had no idea what my next chapter looked like. My days were filled with trips to the bookstore and paying the rent with babysitting jobs from multiple families.
I found great comfort in books. When I was young, my dad would take my sister and me to our local bookstore every Sunday after breakfast. My dream of publishing my own book began to grow early on. The bookstore was a place to get lost, dream, and escape for a few hours.
In 2010, I booked a trip to Paris using babysitting money and airline miles from my previous job. From morning until night, I photographed the city, learning my way by getting lost. It remains one of my favorite trips to date. The weather was early spring, and Paris was beginning to bloom.
After my first solo trip to Paris, I worked on my Etsy shop selling my Paris photography. It quickly took off with some of my best sellers from that first trip. I continued to return as often as I could save up the money.
In 2013, I put all my belongings into storage and moved to Paris to live like a local. At the time, it was a 90-day max stay without a visa. I lived every day to the fullest, learning my way around the city, discovering hidden gems, and slowly starting to make friends.
Before I left for Paris, I wrote down my dreams and wishes for 2013. At the top of the list was a coffee table book of my photography.
Paris Through The Seasons
It wasn’t until fall 2013 that I knew what type of coffee table I wanted. Seeing Paris in different seasons was a different lens to view the city. I watched Paris change from snow to pink blossoms, and then the ivy slowly changed from green to red in the autumn. When I spoke to people over the years, they always told me they were used to seeing Paris in the spring. They had never seen it in the autumn. Or vice versa.
Over the last 15 years, I have collected images from every season. My goal with Paris Every Day is to take you through my photography journey and the lessons I have learned. This is my love letter to the city who has given me so much.
Each chapter is a season that will transport you to Paris. Turn on your favorite jazz music, light a candle, and pour yourself a glass of wine. I hope the book inspires your next trip to the city of light.
Along with Paris photographs, learn my favorite ways to spend a Sunday in each season, how the French eat seasonally (what you will find on the menu), and ideas on experiencing Paris to the fullest no matter when you visit.
This also makes a great gift idea for the Francophile in your life!
Now Available for Preorder
Currently, all orders are handled directly through my publisher, Hoffman Media. They will ensure everything gets delivered to your doorstep in mid-October. The publish date is October 14th.
Why Preorder?
Preordering helps my publishers get a good idea of the number of books to order in the print run. It is similar to how I do my calendars each year. Preordering is also a great way to support my dream of publishing a book.
What if I want a signed copy?
I will work across the US, signing books in person. Please comment with your favorite bookstore or where you buy your books so I can add it to the list. I plan on taking Henri (my 4-year-old Bernedoodle with me) as much as possible on our road tour. There have been strong requests for California and Boston. Both are on the list!
I will be doing a Substack Live soon to answer more of your questions about the book. Ask anything about the publishing and writing process.
Champagne is chilling; I know it will be a long road for the next couple of months to a year. Thank you so much for your support and for making my dream come true!
Indie bookstore Wyrd Books in Edgewater, Maryland!
So excited for you Rebecca! Maybe we can finally meet in Maryland during your book tour!
Just pre-ordered! We visited Paris in February after waiting too long to go back and fell in love with all it all over again. Been receiving your newsletter and absolutely loving it and we cannot wait to get back. From what you share, we know your book will make us want to get there as fast as we can. If you come to NYC (any of its wonderful bookstores), we'll be there!
