I really like this idea and have been trying to implement it in my life as well. I started to set a boundary for Shabbat - Friday night to Saturday night are off limits and my time to unwind and unplug. It makes you feel calmer to have that time to quiet your mind.
Forgive me, as I thought I replied to your comment. It may be floating around here twice :)
I love that you set a boundary for Shabbat. I need to do this, too, and get better at scheduling and completing Sunday links in advance. My mental health is so much better when I take a day break to unplug.
I’m so excited for your book, Rebecca! I’m a longtime follower and so happy to see your success! For me, unplugging and making time for silence is key. I’ve also found that breaking out of my routine can provide a nice creative spark, too. Sometimes I can rely too much on habits and what is “easy” that a simple change in coffee shop, meal rotation, etc. can be so refreshing!
This is so inspiring!! Great ideas and reminders - love your 4 mile weekend walks. That’s something I could do with Baby James and we would both probably like the fresh air (when it’s warmer) and connection!
Yes! Baby James would love the walks. He would like them even better if he joined his Aunt Rebecca and Henri in the city for one. Let me know when he is ready for the ZOO!
I’m SO excited for your book and thrilled about your new projects, Rebecca! Have you looked into “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron? You’re already doing some of the foundational tools, but you might find the structure of the weekly exercises helpful. It’s a classic :)
Yes! We live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan so we spend a lot of time outside, even in the winter.
We start out going out to a local diner for breakfast, then head out to the woods for snowshoeing (hiking in the summer). Home, light a fire in the woodstove and read all day. We're Midwesterners, so often it's Packers Sunday (go to Mass Saturday night in case there's a noon game) :) I make up an easy charcuterie tray for dinner.
Have you checked back into social, or are you off completely? I can see myself giving a few days off during the week. Do you enjoy any meditation apps? I typically use Calm.
Thank you for the inspiration! I also unplugged from Instagram after a recent trip to Paris - During dinner another guest commented that she was surprised how much time she had spent that day scrolling on Instagram - mostly looking at other people’s trips to Paris! While I miss your posts, it actually makes Links that much more fun in Sundays. Thanks again!
Exactly, Kate! It makes you think when you aren't present on vacation, especially in Paris. There are many other times to scroll on Instagram once you are home. I think we have all become so used to scrolling. It is a tough habit to break.
I am sure I will be back in some capacity soon. The book has been a wild ride, and I have been focused on completing everything before the completion date in March.
Links will always be there for you on Sundays. It is a lot of fun to put together each week.
...And Links is a lot of fun to read, too! It's my weekly "date" with my husband: coffee, croissants, and discussing the travel-related stories you share. Merci for bringing both us a bit of happiness each week :)

Hi Sandy!

Thank you, Kristin! I can't wait for you to hold the book.
I love the idea of changing up your routine to spark new creativity. I am going to try it! xo
For me it’s yoga, breath work, meditation, and sometimes a nice relaxing bubble bath. Those are my go-tos for creativity sparking. 💕😣

The zoo and then RL!
It's a date! We can walk there with James. xo

Thank you! I just ordered the book and workbook. I'm very curious about how it works!
I use the "Freedom" app religiously throughout the week, and block off Sunday for a Sabbath.
I'm new to your writing/blog - may I ask what breed of dog in Henri? He's so cute!
p.s. ignore my question, I just saw it on your blog!
No worries at all! It is a common question. Thank you! He is a joy to have around.
It is so lovely that you block off Sundays. Do you have a favorite routine for your "day off"?

I unplugged from IG and Facebook a few weeks ago and it’s been great! I’m also a big walker and I try to meditate daily.

I love Calm too! I’m staying off IG and FB for good with very rare exceptions 😊

I love that you do it with your husband! I am honored to be a part of your Sunday ritual. Thank you for sharing this with me! xo
Such thoughtful reminders, thank you for sharing!
