One of the main attractions in Paris during spring is the blossoms. Warm weather and sunshine arrive in mid-March, and Paris starts to bloom. There is a progression of blossoms in Paris. Of course, we all know about the cherry blossoms. But first to bloom are the magnolia trees.
If you are headed to Paris in the next few weeks, keep your eyes open for a sea of pink. Here are a few places to spot magnolia trees in bloom.
Eiffel Tower
At the base of the Eiffel Tower along the Champ de Mars, you will find a few large trees exploding with pink magnolia blossoms. If the weather is warm enough, you can set up a picnic nearby in the grassy area. Pack a bottle of crisp Rosé, a baguette, and your favorite cheeses.
Hôtel de Ville
Just outside Hôtel de Ville, facing the Seine and Notre Dame, a large magnolia tree is blooming in early spring.
Parc Monceau
Parc Monceau is located in the 8th arrondissement, a bit off the beaten path of postcard Paris. You will identify the park by the beautiful golden gates at the entrance, welcoming you. Magnolia trees line the fence, and Parisian architecture is seen inside the park.
Palais Royal: Paris in Bloom
Palais Royal is a garden that can be found tucked behind the Louvre. It is one of my favorite places in Paris. Grab a coffee at Café Kitsuné and stroll the gardens and arcade. Here, you will find multiple magnolia trees in bloom in late March.
Bookmark this spot to return to later in spring and early summer to see more of Paris in bloom.
Tuileries Gardens
Take a seat in the Tuileries Gardens for prime people-watching. At a nearby boulangerie, you can pick up a baguette sandwich or something sweet. Paris shows off in the spring with magnolias in bloom. Don’t be surprised if you find pops of yellow daffodils and tulips in the nearby gardens.
