Weekend Notes from A Francophile #14
Auntie Camp
I am back in Chicago and soaking up summer in the city. My sister, niece, and nephew are visiting for the next couple of days. We were in Greece together, but I didn’t get a lot of one-on-one time with them because there was a lot of family on the trip. The kids started calling our time together Auntie Camp when they were very young, and it has stuck. My nephew ran into the house late Friday night screaming “Auntie Camp,” so game on.
The kids visit about once a year in the summer, and we have a routine of favorite activities. On Saturday morning, we hit the Farmer’s Market and picked up a lot of fruits and vegetables to cook and snack on. My niece requested blueberry muffins, and we made a batch on Saturday afternoon. She is very curious about cooking and baking and is asking a lot of questions about the recipes.
My nephew and I sat at the kitchen table and started a list of everything we wanted to do while they were in town. The list keeps growing with ideas. At the top of the list, Toy Story 5. Have you seen it yet? My nephew was shocked I missed 3 and 4. Hopefully, I can catch up quickly.
Weekend Reading is up on the blog. It is filled with trend reports for summer and fall. The #1 exercise you should be doing, Paris-inspired courtyard ideas, and how to style linen.
