Weekend Notes from a Francophile #9
A Parisian summer heatwave, late sunsets, and ice cream
Art Fair weekend was so much fun! I had a great time seeing new faces and old friends. Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by. My husband and I have a tradition of packing up the booth and ordering sushi for dinner, my favorite. Henri and I got in some quality time before I was off to Paris.
I hope you enjoyed some of my notes this week sharing photos and videos from my short time in Paris. One meeting turned into a few, to be honest; Paris is always a good idea. That is unless there is a heatwave. This trip was lovely in so many ways, but also challenging because of the heat. There was never an easy solution to escape the heat. Our hotel room has air, thankfully, but it was never quite as strong as we wished.
(Wearing this blouse in red for a photo shoot at the Eiffel Tower) These shots are some of my favorite!
I can’t wait to share more details from the trip, highs and lows, and the very funny dinner situation that had us scrambling on the last night.
Weekend Reading
Weekend Reading is up on the blog. Grab your coffee and croissants. Some of my favorites include the summer staple French women rely on during the intense heat, why watching sports is so much fun, and 7 flowers to pinch out this June.
What I Was Up To This Week
On the flight to Paris, I started Sing Song Blue. I hope to finish it on the way home. I also really want to start the Harlan Coben series.
I packed a few heroes for this trip and will share more details soon. There are a lot! These wipes come in handy on hot days for removing makeup and sunscreen, or on flights.
These are the vitamins I have been taking for the past couple of months. They are prepackaged and make traveling so easy. I keep a few other pills in these small containers, including my daily allergy pill and pain medication.
For travel skincare, I have been loving Le Prunier. The oil cleanser, oil, and lotion with SPF are perfect for summer, and everything fits in this pouch. I keep it in my travel drawer, pull it out, and throw it in my bag without thinking. REBECCA20 gets you 20% off.
I ordered this blouse and plan to pair it with sandals and white shorts. The perfect light weight piece for warm days of summer.
This French brand makes the t-shirts I love so much. I packed these tanks and got a lot of use out of them during the heat wave.
I was lucky to get an early preview of the new Merit mascara, and I really like it. The brush makes all the difference for me.
There is no place like home. I cannot wait to sleep in our own bed this week. Our mattress is on sale. Don’t wait to update yours. JULY20 gets you 20% off. It is one of those big-ticket items you think about for a long time and wish you had done earlier.
These bras are so comfortable to wear during long days of travel.
We had plans to have dinner with this view along the Seine, and it rained during our dinner reservation. The restaurant moved us inside, and I am still sad we missed dinner with this view. Luckily, the sun was setting as we left the restaurant, and I got a few videos and photos of this as we soaked it all in on the way to ice cream. It was a pinch-me dream view.
What Caught My Eye This Week
I had the opportunity to really dig into Gerard Darrel, with one of their stores being just a quick walk away from our hotel. They had so many things on sale for summer too! Plus, there was a woman next to me in the fitting room who styled everything so beautifully that I wanted it all. I picked up this dress that looks super cute belted, this skirt in the perfect blue hue, and this blouse. (not on sale) Also, this raffia bag is perfection for a beach vacation.
How cute is this brown polka-dot skirt? REBECCA15 gets you 15% off.
A red dress I may not be able to say no to.
Any sign of jasmine in Paris stopped me in my tracks. The scent is just so refreshing.
I can’t fathom putting on jeans right now with the heat wave. They didn’t even make it in the suitcase. But if I did, I am eyeing these from Frame. Are low-rise back in? There are so many trends happening all at once.
La Bonne Brosse has a Bon Marché outpost in the center of the store. I have the number 3 brush and love it! They also make travel sizes.
My husband and I both packed these headphones for travel with no regrets.
The view from the Seine and Pont Neuf in the early morning hours.
This Week’s Best Sellers
Margaux sandals. I forgot I ordered these when Chicago was still freezing. This was the perfect opportunity to pull them out in Paris. I walked 25,000 steps in them.
The Ruggable tomato rug I can’t stop thinking about for our kitchen
Westman Atelier bronzing drops. For those who love a sun kissed look without the sun.
An affordable pleated skirt ready to style for summer or fall.
The most comfortable waffle pants I couldn’t wait to climb into last week. I have them in a medium.
Next stop, Chicago to see Henri and Sausalito later this week.

Hi! I'm not sure what I love more, pics of Paris or Henri :) Can I ask how the sizing was in the red blouse? I've been eyeing that brand for sometime and I'm wondering if I'd need a S or M. I'm typically a 6 in blouses! TY!
