The unexpected spot I worked from this week
This week, we celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday on a family cruise in the Bahamas. This allowed me to sneak in a night with my niece, nephew, and family dinner. Due to the airline delays, we left a day early so we didn’t risk missing the cruise departure.
Weekend Reading is up on the blog! Thanks to wifi on the boat, I was able to make this happen. I am incredibly grateful I was able to work remotely this week. I know the upcoming week is going to be full with work and social meetings on the calendar.
Life at Home
Our Monday was hectic, yet productive. We moved a bunch of furniture around in different rooms thanks to hiring Task Rabbit. I have the names of the two guys I hired in case anyone is looking in Chicago. We got a new mattress *(Gifted), bed, and new sheets. Our bedroom has a whole new look! The new nightstands arrive on Monday, and I will share more photos soon. I was worried that Henri wouldn't be able to get up on the mattress or not love the changes. He immediately jumped up on the bed in the middle and napped. I take that as a win. In the evening, he curled up by my pillow ready for sleep.
When it came to ordering a new mattress, we did a lot of research and tested them in person before settling on the one that was right for us. Life on The Go
This recipe, Tortilla Soup, was pulled out of the archives last Sunday night, and it was just as good as we remembered. I don’t use beans in it. The Souper Cubes I mentioned a few weeks ago always come in handy because I save homemade chicken broth in the freezer.
I rushed to pack late Monday night/early Tuesday before we headed to the airport. On the way out, I forgot my hat, which we ended up circling back home for. Just a few days later on the cruise, my hat had gone missing. I don't lose things often, so this feels like a real sting. We keep joking that someone on the boat is going to show up wearing it.
Meanwhile, I did end up putting in an order for a new one and used my code REBECCA15. The hat had low stock. I'm not sure if they are ordering more, and I have come to love this green hat.
Chicago had its first taste of snow early in the week, and my summer clothes have been packed (not so neatly) away for next year. I scrambled to pack for this trip in a hurry.

These Paige jeans really are so cute! I packed them in white, but there are many colors available. Mine have front pockets. High-waisted/wide-legged is finally in my closet, and I am not mad about it.
