Weekend Reading Week #2
The Boden pieces I bought, what I watched this week, planning for Paris and Califonia
Bonjour from Chicago. It is good to be home. I jumped back into my routine, and it was a busy week of appointments and work. Henri and I both had haircuts and teeth cleanings. Mine was much easier than his. I wasn’t prepared for the anesthesia high he would struggle through afterwards. Thankfully, we are on the other side of it all.
I enjoyed watching the Hoosiers win this weekend!
Work has been steady, and I am so grateful for all of your support. I have been shipping out books and calendars to kick off the year.
Weekend Reading Week #2
Weekend Reading is up on the blog! Towards the end of the year, I was working way too late on Saturday night to get this completed. My goal is to have it done earlier so my husband and I can enjoy regular date nights.
Yulia was over for a catch-up and photo shoot. Because of the weather, we shot inside my home, making creative use of the space.
My goal was to start slow, and that hasn’t been the case. It always feels like January is the slowest month, and the rest of the year is a blur. I have been thinking a lot about where I was a year ago this week and how much has happened.
If you are looking to get back into journaling, my friend Jane Bertch has 30 days of prompts to kick-start you. I signed up for these, too.
It may sound cheesy, but a lot can happen in a year. If you are stuck, know that you can become unstuck, or in a challenging season.
Typically, I start the year off in Paris, but since I have an event scheduled for the end of the month, my schedule got flipped a bit. This is where I plan and dream for the year. No complaints, I will just adjust my sails.
Typically, when I travel to Paris, I buy travel insurance. When flights started getting delayed and cancelled while we were in Mexico, I kicked myself for not doing this for our trip. I was chatting with a friend earlier this week and sent her the recommendation for the travel insurance I use. I thought it might be useful to you, too!
Paris Planning for January and A Sézane Event
Paris planning has begun, and I have been frantically making reservations at new restaurants and hotels to discover. If you will be in Paris at the end of January, please let me know. A few spots remain at the Sézane event, and I would love to have you join!
If you’re dreaming of Paris this winter (or planning a trip), I’ve just updated my What to Pack for Paris in the Winter post. There is still time to book a last-minute trip, rumor has it, there is more snow in the forecast for January.
A Trip to California is On the Books
In early February, I will be in Healdsburg for a special event with Coppersfield Books with Paula McClain. This is a pinch-me opportunity that happened just at the launch of Paris Every Day last year. I loved The Paris Wife, and Paula McClain has a new book out, Skylark, set in Paris. It was just chosen for the GMA Book of the Month.
I just booked my accommodations for Healdsburg and would love any recommendations for the area. The event at Little Saint is ticketed, and limited seats are available. We talked about expanding the space, but it was more important to me to have an intimate setting than a larger audience.
Dry January GHIA Code
You may have heard me rave about Ghia for months. Dry January is the perfect time to try it. I begged for them to bring back my code. REBECCA25 gets you 25% off. The Ginger, Sumac, Chili, and Lime Salt is my favorite. I keep my fridge stocked. They are low in sugar and alcohol-free.
What I Watched This Week
I really put my Bose headphones and AirFly adapter to good use, watching Materialist on the plane. It felt like Hitch but reversed, with Dakota Johnson starring. We haven’t had a good modern RomCom in a bit (at least that I can remember). It was cute, and I loved all her clothes.
Harlan Coben is a favorite, and I was very excited to see Run Away released on Netflix for our flight back to Chicago. Intense and twisted. These thrillers are always fun to watch.
A few things I ordered this week and what I am crushing on
I crushed on this Boden skirt and initially disappeared from the site, but it's back now. Originally, I wanted to shoot it in Paris, but it is now on preorder, shipping at the end of the month. I ordered this pink dress instead. In 2026, I am trying to break out of my comfort zone and add a little more color.
This Chappy Wrap blanket arrived, gifted from the brand. It is so soft and perfect for snuggling on the couch with Henri. Use the code REBECCA15 for 15% off.
How cute is this Bisous sweatshirt? I ordered it in a medium.
I ordered this lotion to try for my dry skin. Chicago feels drier than usual, and my skin is feeling it this winter.
My favorite Clarins mask is 50% off today at Sephora. It cools as it depuffs. I just used it this week before my photo shoot.
Serena and Lily is 20% off right now, making Sabre flatware included. I am planning to buy some in Paris. If you can’t make it, this is a good opportunity.
Christmas is my favorite holiday for the decor and cheer, and Valentine’s Day is a close second. I am a sucker for the red, pink, and hearts that brighten January. This pink Doen top, called Henri, is in my cart. I am working on a Valentine’s Day edit.
Anthropologie got me with this Bisous mug that I don’t need, but want.
This Week’s Best Sellers
My Sézane lamp is bigger and better than anticipated.
Iris and Romeo add SPF to their products. I wore their new Burgundy shade for a shoot this week and again for a night out. REBECCA20 gets you 20% off.

Loved the Materialist comparision! That movie had this effortles charm that's been missing in recent rom-coms. The reversed dynamic brings something fresh but keeps the heart of what made those early 2000s rom-coms work - watching someone genuinely transform through connection. Been thinking alot about how rom-coms used to balance aspiration with authenticity, and it sounds like Materialist might actually nail that.
