Where I Stayed in Paris

I tried two different Left Bank hotels on my latest trip to Paris in March. My dates overlapped with Fashion Week, making finding a reasonably priced hotel challenging. The trip lasted five nights, and I spent two nights at Hotel Esprit Saint Germain and three nights at Le Grand Cayré Hôtel.

These were not sponsored stays; these are my honest opinions of the hotels' pros and cons.

Paris Hotel Guest Welcome Survey

Paris hotels email a guest survey to find out when you will arrive and if you need transportation from the airport, along with a few other details. Some guest surveys (depending on the hotel) can be lengthy, asking fun questions like sweet or savory snacks, red or white wine, or what kind of music you like. This helps cater to the guests needs.

Guest surveys and star ratings vary between hotels. A luxury hotel may go more in-depth because it is service-based, and that is what you are paying for.

I look forward to completing the hotel survey and anticipating an upcoming stay. Growing up, I wanted to own my own hotel, so these are all things I wish I had thought of. Turn-down service is one of my guilty pleasures when I travel. I love turn-down service with slippers, fresh water, and a piece of chocolate or something sweet.

Transportation from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Paris

Transportation arranged by the hotel can be expensive. I typically use Victor Cabs or Welcome Pickups. These have been reliable over the years, and I have had great feedback from community members who have used them.

Grabbing a taxi at the airport is also an excellent option. I have done this recently, and it has been seamless. Wait times may vary depending on the time of year and arrival time. There is a set price for Left Bank (65 euros) and Right Bank (56 euros). I would push to use a credit card even if they request cash. The tip is not included, and I would recommend adding this depending on the number of people and bags you are traveling with.

Favorite Hotel Stays With Stand-Out Service

A few of my favorite stays in Paris that had great hospitality in the room were Grand Mazarin (they left something different each night before bed). The staff was extremely welcoming and surprised me with a stuffed bear with a note for Henri. (my dog)

Chateau Voltaire, who put my favorite radio station on and played jazz before bed. They even made a signature cocktail for me at their bar based on my favorite drink.

My home away from home is Pavillon Faubourg Saint Germain. They know me well and always provide incredibly friendly service and attention to detail. Not only do they take care of me, but every friend or family member who has stayed here has had a warm welcome.

Royal Monceau was just above and beyond with service from start to finish. *Note that Royal Monceau was an invitation stay.

This could be a whole long blog post in itself!
