Weekend Notes from A Francophile
Plans for Mother's Day, what I am loving this week
Happy Mother’s Day! For those of you who asked for uninterrupted time to read, I hope you enjoy Weekend Reading from start to finish. I had a few simple wishes for the day. Not to cook or do dinner dishes, a long walk with Henri, maybe a nap, and my husband got me a beauty face mask a few months ago, I have been holding onto that, which includes a meditation. It sounds heavenly and against so much of my ADHD brain that I am excited to give it a go.
We are currently living in a bit of a construction zone because we have a house project underway. There is a lot of extra dust and noise during the week. I plan to take advantage of the quiet.
For paid subscribers, I did a Substack Live this Friday to talk about Paris hotels. There were just a handful of them, but it was also recorded. I am often asked for recommendations, and this was specifically for Left Bank Paris hotels, 4- and 5-star. Paid subscribers can access it, and if you want to become one, it is only $5 a month. The price of coffee and a croissant. I share a favorite 6-room boutique hotel and a new hotel discovery that is on my list for my next trip.
What I Ordered This Week:
I am very much in a chocolate brown phase and ordered this linen button-down and skirt. It will be a lot of fun this summer with a cute bucket hat, sandals, and shades.
My mom and sister were so excited about these Rothy’s shoes after I sent them a link to my new espadrilles. These have my sister’s name all over them, and for my mom, these.
We added this rug to our outdoor space! The construction project is taking place partly in the back so we need to wait to lay this down. Counting the days until it is patio weather. REBECCA15 gets you 15% off.
New arrivals from Splendid include this skirt and this cardigan.
I saw this funny caption on Instagram: “Anything you buy this weekend can be considered a Mother’s Day gift. ”
This week’s best sellers have a fun blue theme by coincidence. I ordered the smaller version of this bag.
We are making our way through Paradise. Currently on Season 2.
Two things I did not finish this week:
Margo’s Got Money Problems was not for me. I told my husband there was an episode where it was make-or-break whether I was going to continue, and I turned it off.
Strangers is a book I recently picked up at the local bookstore after seeing everyone read it. I ended up starting the audiobook at the gym, and while it captured my attention (she is a great storyteller), I lost interest and felt her story dragged on.
A Few Things That Caught My Eye This Week:
My friend Kat tipped me off to the best view in Paris. If you are in the city this spring or summer, have a cocktail for me.
Loving this floral dress for a special occasion.
This gingham seersucker dress is cute in both red and blue.
Cadence made a beautiful Jade collection. This set has one of each size, perfect for travel. The medium size is the one I use most often.
An adorable pareo in grey for beach season.
This short-sleeved sweater is a favorite I have been wearing on repeat, and I wore it for this week’s Substack Live. Currently on sale
Loving this $99 moon raffia clutch

Thank you so much for your weekly newsletter. I look forward to reading it every Sunday. I love the shoes you are wearing in the first picture with Henri on the steps. Would you mind sharing them? Thank you!
There’s something very adult about realizing your dream Mother’s Day is basically just silence, no obligations, a walk, and nobody asking you where something is for a few hours.
The older I get, the more luxury starts looking exactly like uninterrupted calm.
